The festive shake, which sells in a clear plastic cup inscribed with confetti and a "Celebrate Grimace's Birthday," arrived today at restaurants.
The shakes come as part of a special birthday meal with a choice of Big Mac or 10-piece chicken McNuggets with fries. (Here's a little secret - you also can request them individually.)

I hit the drive-thru and ordered one of the medium-sized drinks. The employee working the window happily shared that I was the first drive-thru customer today to order one.
Honestly, I wasn't expecting much. I mean, other places do shakes better, including plenty of mom-and-pop ice cream shops. But I give kudos to McDonald's for the presentation. That cup is darn festive and the purple color is attractive.
I dunked my straw into the cup and took a sip, and another and another. Let me say, this shake goes down pretty darn easy. McDonald's says the shakes consist of vanilla soft serve and berry flavors.
It definitely tastes like berries with hints of raspberries and a slight nod to Strawberry Quik. It was thick, creamy and topped with whipped cream.
It you ask me, McDonald's would be smart to make this shake part of its seasonal rotations, much like the minty Shamrock Shake that comes out every March for St. Patrick's Day.
As part of Grimace's birthday celebration, McDonald's is also launching a video game in collaboration with Krool Toys "where you can immerse yourself in Grimace's world as he races around classic McDonald's birthday scenes to find his pals - like Birdie and Hamburglar - all in a quest to cut his birthday cake. The game will be free to play on desktop and mobile beginning June 12."
